Book Reviews

Your Saving Grace

"The story is well-paced with excellent dialogue, intriguing suspense, and an exciting ending. Of special interest are the protagonists who are a little older than in your usual romantic suspense, but sexy and still in their prime. YOUR SAVING GRACE is a tale to enjoy and savor. This reviewer will be looking for more books by this talented author."                   ~Marilyn Heyman

"The world that YOUR SAVING GRACE envelops you in will leave you curious
and astounded as the case of Hannah's attacker unwinds. Hannah is as tenderhearted as she is bullheaded, while Jude learns to love for the first time by her example. J. L. Wilson did an excellent job keeping me guessing until the very end of the 'who done it' story. Comprised of great writing and a wonderful story, YOUR SAVING GRACE isn't to be missed. Thumbs up for J L Wilson for writing a shocking end!"
~Lacey

"Adorable cats, police corruption, and Spongebob Squarepants play roles in the novel of grown-up romance and suspense. Wilson’s characters are realistic and likable. She knows that grown-ups can be just as insecure as teenagers and she knows how to plot the twists and turns of a fine mystery. The climax is filled with danger and action, and the loose ends are tied up nicely."  ~ Lynn Bushey

Brownies, Bodies, and Breaking the Code

"The tension builds to a suspenseful finale, and the reader is made to really care about Jessie and Gus. The supporting cast is also intriguing, and it is difficult for Jessie (and the reader) to discern the truth early on. These are mature characters. Gus is a silver-haired professorial type and Jessie is 51 years old. I love it that she is a topnotch computer gal, up on modern technology. She can also be a bit flaky, and I like that, too. Gus is secretive, but tender, and attractive in a somewhat nerdy fashion. J L Wilson has created an original story, peopled by a highly original
cast."                                                          ~ Lynn Bushey

If Not For You

"I’m finding this review hard to write because while I don’t want to give anything away, I want to tell all. “If Not For You” is funny. It is a sexy, fast-paced, keep-you-guessing mystery.

... Yes, the characters are a little older, closer to same age to each other and myself, but it still boils down to the writing.

Ms. Wilson has written a one of the most electrifying female leads I’ve read in some time."  ~ Christine Speakman

"IF NOT FOR YOU contains healthy doses of excitement, suspense, romance,
humor—everything you need for a great romantic adventure/suspense story. I found the characters heartwarming in their sincerity and realistic in their emotions
and reactions. Max's character really grows and a profound way, as does Layla's
character. They are both characters the reader will identify with and understand.

I loved all the secondary characters as well, and could not have been happier with the outcome of this story. The suspense had me guessing all the way through, and I truly could not put this one down until I read every last word. It's really one of those books that just make you feel good! The storyline is compelling and keeps you from putting the book down. A great read!"  ~ Maria Shaink

"If Not for You by JL Wilson is a wonderfully quirky romantic suspense. Layla’s character seems flighty and very causal but her personality masks her intelligence and her tender heart. Max just seems uptight and doesn’t know how to relax—yet! The clash of these two personalities is fun. They are not only opposites; they are stubborn, both have been hurt, and neither wants to risk serious involvement. The story also contains a number of fun secondary characters to add to the entertainment. But while all this fun is going on, someone is still trying to harm Max and Layla and the underlying threat of harm keeps you, the reader, on your toes wondering what will happen next."
